(Click here to view the agenda).  The SGM Agenda as circulated, sets out an opportunity to discuss and consider the PricewaterhouseCoopers Organizational Capacity Review Final Report – Sept 28, 2009. (Click here to view the report).   You may be aware this report includes a total of 15 recommendations related to MPhA, 3 of which have specifically be included on the agenda, with the remaining 12 recommendations also being considered at the SGM if time permits.

The MSP Government Relations Committee reviewed the PwC report when it was released and provided MPhA Council with some opinion.  In advance of the SGM members are encouraged to review MSP’s views (Click here to view the responses).  Members may want to focus specifically on SGM Agenda item 3 (a) – (c) (click here to view summary) which relates to the size, composition and term of Council, and SGM Agenda item 4, which relates to the remaining 12 recommendations

  2. All Candidates Forum – Election to MPhA Council and MSP Board of Directors - The MSP Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it will sponsor an All Candidates Forum for the upcoming election to MPhA Council and the 2011 election to the MSP Board of Directors.

Over the past two years or more, MSP has attempted to stress to the membership that the pharmacy profession has entered a significant period, during which many fundamental decisions will be reached.  Manitoba Pharmacy leaders have the unique ability to influence the profession for many years with the decisions which will be made in the immediate future.  The MSP Board of Directors believes that it is an appropriate time for pharmacists to have the opportunity to better know the candidates, before casting their ballots.

By becoming informed and getting engaged pharmacists in active practice will be able to decide which potential pharmacy leaders are best able to address the many priorities.  The details and the structure of the forum are currently being developed.  The MSP intends to consult with members directly to determine the most important priorities; all candidates for election to MPhA Council will be invited to participate in the forum. An effort to allow pharmacists in all regions of the province to be involved is a priority.  As the details on the forum are finalized, MSP members will be notified. Please watch for further email updates.

  3.   Annual Wage & Benefits Survey –       Number Returned to Date:     148                                                                         Target Number:                         305
                                                                       Surveys Still Required:           157

The 36th Annual Survey of Income and Benefits was mailed out at the end of last week.  The response rate has been very good and to date we have received 148 surveys. The highest number of responses ever received was 305 in 2004 and we would like to achieve that number again in 2010.  We are almost half way there. We encourage all MSP members to complete the survey and return it at their earliest convenience. The data derived from this survey provides the most reliable reference for negotiating compensation for pharmacists’ services and the more surveys returned, the more accurate the results.  The surveys can be mailed to MSP in the self addressed envelope that is provided or faxed to (204) 956-6686.

Please do not send by both mail and fax.

The deadline to submit completed surveys is March 5th, 2010.

  4.
