MSP Member Update Vol. 9 No. 55
September 8 th, 2010
In This Issue: REMINDER Is now a good time to QUIT?
ACCREDITED FOR 6 CEU’s
The Professional Relations Committee is pleased to announce that MSP and CPhA have partnered to deliver live QUIT smoking cessation workshops to Manitoba Pharmacists. Our goal is to increase access to training and to provide tools that will encourage pharmacists to reduce barriers to success.
The Lung Association estimates that only 37% of smokers in Manitoba receive advice from a physician or another health care professional in respect to smoking cessation strategies, compared to nearly 60% in other parts of Canada. Manitoba Pharmacists are invited to participate in the live QUIT training which will enhance their ability to screen patients in regards to tobacco use and to provide support when their patients are ready to QUIT.
Two workshops are available and will take place on September 25, 2010.
