Bringing Evidence Into Practice Workshop
Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) has been identified as one of the most important innovations in health care in the past 150 years (British Medical Journal). In an age of abundant information, how do health care providers use the tools and principles of EBM to successfully and appropriately integrate the information into clinical practice for the management of diabetes? This session will review the fundamentals of evidence-based medicine and explore critical appraisal of medical evidence, using the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health’s (CADTH) systematic review and cost-effectiveness analyses findings on self-monitoring of diabetes (SMBG) and insulin analogues to explore these concepts.
