- Board of Directors Reduced to Six - MSP Members are advised that three members of the MSP Board of Directors resigned on Friday, February 5th and became candidates for election to the MPhA Council. The MSP By-laws do not force MSP Board members to resign in order to run for election to MPhA Council, however all three individuals did not want to create the perception of a conflict of interest. Although there are many common interests, the MSP and MPhA have distinct mandates, and it would be virtually impossible to represent both organizations simultaneously.
President Mel Baxter, Government Relations Committee Chair Tim Pattern, and Communications/ Membership Committee Chair Carey Lai, made significant contributions in the best interest of pharmacists during their time as Directors of the Society and it will be difficult to replace their knowledge of, and commitment to, the pharmacy profession. Elmer Kuber has assumed the President's responsibilities and wants MSP members to be assured that the remaining Directors will ensure the effectiveness of the Society is not damaged. Kuber indicates that "MSP is currently actively engaged in many priorities for the pharmacy profession” and the remaining six Board Members will "need to commit a bit more time, and assume additional responsibilities, until we are able to fill these vacancies."
- The MPhA Council Election is now underway and the MSP Board of Directors would appreciate members’ assistance with determining the key issues facing the incoming Council. An online survey has been developed for this purpose and we encourage members to participate. The survey is very brief, takes only a moment to complete and will provide valuable information going into the election.
The survey can be accessed at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6XSL2DQ
The survey will be posted for a one week period and the deadline to participate is Friday, Feb. 12th at 3:30 pm. The survey results will be shared with all identified candidates who will then have an opportunity to speak to the issues identified by the members at the All Candidates Forum (see item 2 below).
- All Candidates Forum – Election to MPhA Council. All identified candidates for election to MPhA Council will be invited to participate in the All Candidates Forum. The details and the structure of the forum are currently being developed. As the details on the forum are finalized, MSP members will be notified. Please watch for further email updates. In the meantime we ask that you complete the online survey and encourage as many of your colleagues to complete it as well.
