  1. It is with regret that we must inform you of Jack Davis’ passing on Oct. 26th, 2009. Jack made many contributions to the pharmacy profession in Manitoba during his 50 years of practice. Of particular note, Jack was a founding Board member of the Manitoba Society of Professional Pharmacists in 1973 and served as the first Vice-Chairman. In the months that followed Jack became the Executive Director of the Society, a position he held for the next twenty years.

 

The Board and Staff of the Manitoba Society of Pharmacists thoughts are with Jack’s family during this difficult time.

5259490.jpgJACK EDWARD DAVIS October 16, 1929 - October 26, 2009 The family of Jack Davis sadly announces his passing at home. He was born in Morris, Manitoba and lived and worked in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise, of 55 years April 11, 2008. He leaves to cherish his memory son Glenn (wife Laura), grandsons Leland and Morgan, daughter Shawna (husband Randy Yaremkiw), granddaughters Jennifer and Gia Davis-Persaud, step great-grandson Kaden Yaremkiw, son Todd and many friends and family. Besides his family, Dad's career in pharmacy was very rewarding to him. Dad graduated with a B.Sc. in Pharmacy from the University of Manitoba in 1953. Over the course of his career he owned and operated Davis Pharmacy in the 1960s and 1970s, was the executive director of the Manitoba Society of Professional Pharmacists, and taught pharmacy technician courses at Robertson College. His rewarding career in Pharmacy lasted over 50 years, an achievement of which he was very proud. Over the years Mom and Dad had the good fortune to travel to many places and enjoyed every adventure. He will be missed. Service to take place at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., Monday, November 9 at 1:00 p.m. with Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba, 750 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0T5.
