1.    H1N1: What we Need to Know - The Manitoba Respiratory Health Professionals (MbRHP) are hosting an educational evening   entitled “H1N1: What We Need to Know”. The event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at 5:00 pm in the Pedway Café – Health Sciences Centre, 730 William St. Presenters at the event include Betty Ross, Dr. Fred Aoki, Brenda Dyck, Fred Atkin, Todd Mortimer, and Dr. Alfred Gin. The deadline to register is October 17th.

2.    Manitoba Pharmacy Conference 2010 - The planning committee for the Manitoba Pharmacy Conference will be selecting the continuing education topics for the 2010 conference shortly.  If you have a CE topic and/or speaker suggestion, please email Marnie Hilland at mhilland@venturesnorth.ca as soon as possible and we will present the information to our planning committee. The 2010 conference will be held April 9th to 11th at the Convention Centre in Winnipeg.    More information on the 2010 conference will be available shortly on our website at www.mbpharmacyconference.com

3.    Canadian Diabetes Association - Best Banting Evening - Light up the night in support of Diabetes research and education at the Best Banting Evening, Friday, November 13, from 7 – 11pm at The Gallery in the Manitoba Hydro Building, 360 Portage Avenue. The event, so named to honour the co-discoverers of insulin, Dr. Charles Best and Sir Frederick Banting – will offer a casually elegant gathering for 250 guests. To view the e-invitation Click Here.

Treat yourself to a sublime selection of delightful food and fine wine pairings complete with commentary and guidance from George Andrews, the proprietor of G.J. Andrews Food & Wine Shoppe, Winnipeg’s premiere specialty market. Set in the engaging, street-level space in the Manitoba Hydro Gallery, indulge with friends as downtown comes to life. The night ends in celebration as the room counts down and raises a glass to Frederick Banting’s birthday and World Diabetes Day, November 14. The evening will include live music, door prize, silent auction and special guests. Tickets are $200 (tax receipt for a portion of the ticket price). 4.   Canadian Safety Patient Week – Nov. 2nd to 6th – Ask. Listen. Talk. – this is the message the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) and hundreds of organizations across Canada are getting out to healthcare professionals, patients and their families as part of Canadian Patient Safety Week (CPSW), November 2 – 6, 2009. You can become part of the patient safety movement! 5. Osteoporosis Canada- MB Chapter – BONE UP Workshop on Thursday, October 29, 2009. This Bone Up Workshop is a continuing education program for Registered Dieticians and Pharmacists who treat and train individuals with Osteoporosis.
