In December 2006, Bill 41, The Pharmaceutical Act   received Royal Assent by the Manitoba Legislative Assembly.  The regulations to accompany the new Act have been developed with input from the membership.  It is expected that these will be approved the members in early 2008.  Participants in this session will be updated on the status of the regulations and the new Act.

3. International Pharmacy - how practice models and reimbursement vary
Dr. Jeff Poston, B.Pharm., PhD, MRPharmS.

In different countries pharmacy practice varies based on a number of variables. Two key issues are who pays for drugs (single payer or multiple payers and who owns pharmacies (restricted ownership or multiple ownership). The success and failures of the different practice models and the implications for pharmacy in Canada will be considered.

4. Success in a New Practice Environment:  From Counting to Consulting
Alan Kyte, B.Sc.Pharm.

During this session, participants will:

  • Review recent changes in the Canadian healthcare industry affecting pharmacy practice.
  • Discuss how the changes impact pharmacy practice.
  • Explore and discuss how clinical and business practices may need to change to meet these challenges.

More information still to come on the Saturday events!
