.5 hour Overview of the July 30th Discussion Document - MPhA

1.5 hours  Legal Panel – Presentations by:
Robert Dawson
David Marr
Bob Sokalski
Curtis Unfried
This session allowed all participating lawyers to focus on specific issues related to the Discussion Document (Draft Regulations).  Each lawyer focused on a particular area of the Discussion Document.  Participants then had an opportunity to ask questions of the legal panel.

1 hour Inducements

Opposing positions are advanced on possible changes to regulations concerning inducements.  After the positions were articulated, participants provided their own comments and asked questions.

1 hour   Impact on Business

This session focuses on economic impacts the new Regulations may have on operating a pharmacy.  A variety of topics are considered, including: documentation, the distance care component, manager qualifications, and the increased role of technicians.  This session allowed for a variety of perspectives to be articulated.

.25 hour Closing Remarks

2) UPDATE Online Forum – Four months ago the Manitoba Society of Pharmacists launched an Online Forum to address issues related to the Regulations Discussion Document.  To date there has been limited activity, even though many pharmacists felt a Forum would provide a useful tool in sharing information and opinions on the proposed regulations.

After much consideration the decision has been made to allow for pharmacists to participate in the forum using an online name of their choosing.  The rationale is that there is a greater likelihood of participation and expressing of opinions if pharmacists do not need to provide their given names.  MSP is always prepared to revisit previous decisions and in this case we are willing to adopt this new approach which allows for uninhibited expression of opinion.

All licensed pharmacists are invited to use the Forum. Registering to participate in the Online Forum can be completed within a minute, and we encourage you to visit the Forum and share your thoughts.

While the Online Forum can be a useful tool for licensed pharmacists to connect with their colleagues, its success will be determined solely by participation.  You can sign on anytime, so we hope that you seize the opportunity to be engaged in this process at your convenience.
