1) The Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association (MPhA) July 3rd, 2007 deadline to respond to the Discussion Document, dated April 16, 2007 is quickly approaching.  Next Tuesday will be the last chance you have to respond.

We can all agree that the long weekend will serve as a well deserved distraction, but it is essential that pharmacists find an opportunity over the next five days to provide MPhA with feedback.  The most current information suggests that 70 out of a possible 1,200 licensed pharmacists have so far responded.  These numbers need to improve.

Several pharmacists have indicated to us that they would prefer that the MPhA response document was in “Word” format.  This format is now available on the MSP website at http://www.msp.mb.ca/bill41-regulationsview.asp?ID=19.  The original format is also available on the MSP website at http://www.msp.mb.ca/bill41-regulationsview.asp?ID=20.

The results of the first three questionnaires (Pharmacy Manager Qualifications, Pharmacy and Pharmacist Insurance, Pharmacy Technicians and “Other Persons”) are now posted on the Manitoba Society of Pharmacists website.  From the home page www.msp.mb.ca click on the orange button that reads “Bill 41 Regulations” and you will find the questionnaire results and a host of other materials which you can use as a resource when preparing your response.

2) Online Forum – The Manitoba Society of Pharmacists is pleased to announce the launch of the Online Forum to address issues related to the Regulations Discussion Document, of April 16th, 2007.  All licensed pharmacists are invited to use the Forum as a vehicle to exchange opinions and educate themselves on the contents of the Regulations Discussion Document.  Registering to participate in the Online Forum can be completed within a minute, and we encourage you to visit the Forum and share your thoughts.

While the Online Forum can be a useful tool for licensed pharmacists to connect with their colleagues, its success will be determined solely by participation.  You can sign on anytime, so we hope that you seize the opportunity to be engaged in this process at your convenience.

3) Online Survey – Bill 41 Regulations –Pharmacist Profiles

The first three questionnaires which addressed Pharmacy Manager Qualifications, Pharmacist and Pharmacy Insurance and Pharmacy Technicians have been concluded and the results will be posted shortly on the MSP Website.  While the number of responses to the first three questionnaires has been positive, it is our hope that they will be improved upon.  The new regulations will have a substantial impact on the profession and it is essential that pharmacists share their opinions and are engaged in the development of the new regulations.

The new questionnaire has been developed and we encourage you to participate.  This questionnaire focuses on Pharmacist Profiles

All questionnaires have been developed with the knowledge that pharmacists have busy lives and will respond in greater numbers if the questionnaires are user-friendly and take only a few minutes to complete.  Each questionnaire also allows members to provide detailed feedback if they wish.

The entire process occurs on-line.  There is no need to fax or mail responses.

The MSP Board of Directors needs to hear from licensed pharmacists so that they can consider your interests when they are developing their positions.  Take a moment to complete the questionnaire, and let us know your opinions.  Responses are welcome until 12:00 p.m. on July 3rd, 2007.
