  1. Annual Wage & Benefits Survey

Annual Wage & Benefits Survey - Number Returned to Date:     169
                                                                    Target Number:                         305
                                                                    Surveys Still Required:           136

The 37th Annual Survey of Income and Benefits was recently mailed out to MSP and CSHP-MB Branch members.  The response rate has been very good and to date we have received 169 surveys.  The highest number of responses ever received was 305 in 2004 and we would like to achieve that number again in 2011.  We are over half way there.  We encourage all MSP members to complete the survey and return it at their earliest convenience.  The data derived from this survey provides the most reliable reference for negotiating compensation for pharmacists’ services and the more surveys returned, the more accurate the results.  The surveys can be mailed to MSP in the self addressed envelope that is provided or faxed to (204) 956-6686.

Please do not send by both mail and fax.
The deadline to submit completed surveys is March 11th, 2011

  1. Is Now a Good Time to Q.U.I.T.?

The Professional Relations Committee is pleased to announce that MSP and CPhA have partnered to deliver another live QUIT smoking cessation workshop to Manitoba Pharmacists.  The Lung Association estimates that only 37% of smokers in Manitoba receive advice from a physician or another health care professional in respect to smoking cessation strategies, compared to nearly 60% in other parts of Canada.

Manitoba Pharmacists are invited to participate in the live QUIT training which will enhance their ability to screen patients in regards to tobacco use and to provide support when their patients are ready to QUIT.

The workshop will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2011

Location:

Winnipeg Winter Club – Tennis Gallery
200 River Avenue, Winnipeg, MB
9:00am to 4:00pm (Lunch & Refreshments will be provided)

This 6-CEU  live workshop is organized into five separate modules, each focusing on different aspects of smoking cessation:
Module 1: Why they should quit and how you should help them
Module 2: Addiction and its implications
Module 3: Pharmacotherapy and behaviour.  Your client is ready; are you?
Module 4: Counselling process.  Putting it all together!
Module 5: Creating your smoking cessation program
