1. The Deadline for Nominations for the Award of Merit is Feb. 7th, 2011.  The Award of Merit is bestowed upon an active member of the Manitoba Society of Pharmacists in recognition for active participation and promotion contributing to the benefit of the Manitoba Society of Pharmacists and the Profession of Pharmacy. 2. Nycomed Magnum Opus Award  
   
   Recognizing Professional Achievement Through Advanced Learning – Request for Nominations -Sponsored by Nycomed Canada Inc., this award specifically recognizes pharmacists who have
   completed advanced training or education (e.g., Certified Asthma Educator) and have successfully
   expanded their practice as a result.  The Nycomed Magnum Opus Award will raise awareness of the
   value and availability of advanced training for pharmacists.  Pharmacists may be nominated by another individual or they may nominate themselves.  Nominations are to be submitted to the Manitoba Society
   of Pharmacists care of Scott Ransome by Feb. 7th , 2011 and may be submitted by email to
   info@msp.mb.ca, by fax to (204) 956-6686 or by mail to MSP, 202-90 Garry St. Winnipeg, MB

3. Annual Wage & Benefits Survey – The 37th Annual Survey of Income and Benefits has now been mailed out. We would like to encourage all MSP members to complete the survey and return it at their earliest convenience. The data derived from this survey provides the most reliable reference for negotiating compensation for pharmacists’ services.  The surveys can be mailed to MSP in the self addressed envelope that is provided or faxed to (204) 956-6686.
   
   Please do not send by both mail and fax.
   The deadline to submit completed surveys is March 11th, 2011
   
   
4. Young Leaders Award – Call for Nominations The 2011 Young Leader Awards are open to pharmacy students in their final year and pharmacists who are 1 to 5 years post graduation.  There are 10 awards in total that afford the new pharmacist an opportunity to experience the professional development gained through participation in the 2011 Manitoba Pharmacy Conference to be held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, 275 York Ave. in Winnipeg on April 15th, 16th and 17th.
   
   There are 10 awards in total and each Young Leader Award consists of:
   • 1 complimentary full registration to the Annual conference plus 1 ticket for the Friday Night Reception and Awards Ceremony as well as 1 Saturday Evening Awards Banquet Ticket for your partner/spouse.
   • Hotel accommodations at the Delta Hotel, 350 St. Mary Ave. Winnipeg on April 15th and 16th
   • A plaque to be presented on Friday Evening at the Awards Ceremony.
     
     
   These awards are made possible by the Manitoba Society of Pharmacists and the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association and the deadline for nominations is Friday, March 4th.  For more information or to obtain nomination forms contact the MPhA office at (204) 233-1411.
   
   
5. Room Bookings - 2011 Pharmacy Conference
   
   The annual Manitoba Pharmacy Conference is fast approaching.  The Manitoba Society of Pharmacists would like to encourage everyone to contact the Delta Hotel to reserve your hotel room.  There is a block of rooms that has been set aside for Conference attendees.  Please mention the Conference when booking your room to insure that you receive the discounted rate.
