Revised Code of Ethics – Removal of Statement XI - Advertising
As members are aware, the Code of Ethics is being revised as part of the Legislation Proclamation Component Development Project (LPCDP). MSP has been working collaboratively with MPhA and other stakeholders to develop a final document that is acceptable to our members prior to the vote that will take place at the MPhA AGM on April 21, 2012.
Recently, an agreement was reached to remove Statement XI from the Code of Ethics entirely.

Now that Statement XI has been removed from the Code of Ethics, it is necessary to develop a regulation and practice direction in regards to advertising. MSP has been asked to actively participate in the development of this regulation and corresponding practice direction.
This is a very positive development and something that MSP has been advocating for all along. The MSP Board of Directors continues to work on the outstanding issues in regards to the regulations in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. The Board would like to thank all members who provided feedback and comments throughout this process.
The Standards of Practice Committee continues work on the drafting of Practice Directions. The following documents have been circulated to date:
The Manitoba Society of Pharmacists' Economics Committee has reached a one year Memorandum of Understanding with Health Canada on the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program.
The Agreement is effective February 6, 2012 and calls for an increase to the maximum professional fee from $10.05 to $10.55.
The wording of this agreement is substantially different from past agreements and members are encouraged to read the document carefully.
